Job Description
Freelance linguist translating legal documents between Catalan and English for Global Language Strategies. Requires advanced proficiency in both languages and familiarity with legal terminology.
Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate translation and/or editing of documents and/or transcription of audio files
- Edit audio transcriptions that include slang and idioms
- Edit legal documents, such as affidavits, depositions, etc.
- Excellent written communication skills in English and the target foreign language
- Translate and/or transcribe following client’s style guides and quality standards
- Use domain-specific terminology
- Review and certify other translators’ work quality
Requirements:
- U.S. citizen willing to undergo a U.S. government background check
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years of experience in translating and/or editing between English and a foreign language
- At least 3 years of experience performing audio transcription
- Familiar with legal terminology in both English and the target foreign language(s)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Translators and editors must proficiently use CAT tools like Trados
