Job Description

Collections Specialist handling resident communications for unpaid rent in property management. Ensuring compliance with laws and company policies while maintaining organization and documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily outbound calls, texts, and emails to residents with past-due rent balances.
  • Communicate firmly, professionally, and consistently to encourage prompt payment or set up approved payment arrangements.
  • Explain account status, amounts owed, deadlines, and potential next steps in clear and confident terms.
  • Document all communication and attempted contacts in the property management system.
  • Monitor resident ledgers and follow internal escalation procedures for non-payment.
  • Coordinate with property managers on cases needing notices, legal action, or alternative resolution steps.
  • Maintain awareness of state landlord-tenant regulations, fair debt collection practices, and internal policies.
  • Provide weekly status updates on delinquent accounts and recovery progress.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in collections, customer service, property management, or call-center environments preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication skills; comfortable making a high volume of calls.
  • Ability to stay calm, assertive, and professional during difficult conversations.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and meet weekly performance expectations.
  • Reliable internet connection and quiet remote working environment.
