Job Description

Content Engineer managing newsletters at Packt, a global tech publisher focused on learning solutions. Driving audience growth and product strategy in a remote role.

Responsibilities:

  • Define, execute and evolve the editorial and product strategy for your newsletters.
  • Experiment with tone, cadence, structure and creative formats to drive engagement and retention.
  • Test and optimize format, layout, visual identity and performance metrics.
  • Use analytics to track open/click rates, subscriber growth and revenue conversion (ads/sponsorship).
  • Manage sponsorship placements and commercial integrations within newsletters.
  • Own the end-to-end production and strategy of flagship newsletters from editorial planning, tone and design to performance and monetization.
  • Commission, edit and produce multi-format products (articles, interviews, explainers, digests, etc.) aligned with the needs of developers, data scientists and other tech pros.
  • Develop and execute newsletter growth initiatives, including lead magnets, referral programs and partnerships.
  • Work with Growth and Design teams to create and test acquisition campaigns.
  • Track and report on key growth and monetization metrics: subscriber acquisition, churn, click-through rate, sponsorship revenue, conversion performance, etc.

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years’ experience in content creation, editing or journalism for technical or B2B audiences.
  • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to translate complex topics into engaging, audience-relevant narratives.
  • Proven experience managing and growing newsletters end-to-end from editorial planning and production to subscriber growth and retention.
  • Experience managing sponsorships, brand partnerships or ad placements within editorial or newsletter products.
  • Comfortable creating media kits and reporting on campaign performance.
  • Excellent writing, editing and coaching skills; able to manage multiple contributors and internal stakeholders.
  • Able to use analytics and performance data to track and iterate on engagement, conversion and revenue metrics.
  • Familiarity with email marketing, analytics and content tools and AI-assisted production workflows.
  • Understanding of newsletter monetization models (ads, sponsorships, community upsell, partnerships, etc.).
