Job Description
DevOps Engineer designing and implementing cloud infrastructure on GCP for Afero, a leading PaaS for IoT manufacturers. Collaborating with software engineers to manage applications and enhance system security.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure on GCP
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to automate cloud provisioning
- Optimize CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless deployment and updates of applications
- Monitor and enhance system performance, reliability, and security using logging and monitoring tools
- Implement containerization and orchestration strategies using Docker and Kubernetes
- Collaborate with software engineers to ensure smooth integration of applications with cloud infrastructure
- Manage network security, IAM policies, and data encryption to ensure compliance with industry standards
- Conduct incident management and disaster recovery planning to maintain system resilience
- Take turns in a weekly on-call rotation to resolve production issues
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) operating highly scaled platforms
- Strong proficiency in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub and BigQuery
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar tools
- Proficiency in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Solid understanding of networking, security best practices, and monitoring tools
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Bash, Python, or Go) for automation
- Experience with IoT architectures, messaging protocols (MQTT, CoAP), and edge computing is a plus
- This role is available in California, Massachusetts, Georgia, and Utah
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. or eligible for H-1B visa transfer.
