Job Description
Legionella Risk Assessor delivering high-quality water safety inspections across London and South East. Conducting risk assessments and compliance support in residential and commercial properties.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive Legionella risk assessments for hot and cold water systems in residential, commercial and mixed-use properties
- This includes inspecting water tanks, outlets, storage, pipework, and water-system components
- Evaluate existing control measures, water temperatures, maintenance regimes, and system compliance; identify potential risks, defects, and areas of concern (e.g. dead legs, inadequate insulation, stagnant water)
- Produce clear, comprehensive, and professional risk-assessment reports — including schematic drawings / asset registers, photographic records where required, and actionable recommendations to mitigate risks
- Work on-site across a variety of building types; travel as required within London and the South East
- Liaise directly with clients/property managers/landlords: explain findings, advise on control measures, and support ongoing compliance and monitoring schemes
Requirements:
- Recognised qualification or certification in Legionella Risk Assessment / Water Hygiene (e.g. City & Guilds, or equivalent)
- Ideally 2–3 years’ experience carrying out Legionella / water-system risk assessments, or equivalent experience in water hygiene, plumbing, or building services
- Strong understanding of relevant UK health & safety legislation and guidance, including ACOP L8 and HSG 274 (and, where relevant, HTM 04‑01)
- Excellent report-writing skills, attention to detail, good communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently on site and liaise professionally with clients
- Full UK driving licence; willingness to travel across London/South East; flexibility to work on-site as needed
