Job Description
Operations Engineer managing and optimizing Elastic Stack for a leading financial services provider. Focused on cloud environments and system reliability in a secure atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain Elastic Stack and Elastic Cloud Enterprise (ECE) clusters in secure, air-gapped environments
- Support the design and development of Elasticsearch and ECE architectures to ensure scalability and reliability
- Perform cluster configuration and updates, including LDAP, TLS, and SMTP integrations
- Manage user and role access, and ensure secure authentication and communication setups
- Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and AWX configurations to automate infrastructure deployment and updates
- Deploy and manage AWX on Kubernetes, ensuring integrations and configurations are properly implemented
- Create, optimize, and maintain index templates, Logstash pipelines, Beats configurations, and Elastic dashboards for improved observability and data management
- Provide operational support and troubleshooting for Elastic Stack and related components
- Apply Linux system patches and perform general maintenance on virtual machines while ensuring minimal impact on running applications
- Configure networking, logical volumes, and security rules (iptables) to maintain a secure and efficient environment
- Compile and maintain system-level software (e.g., Python, Git) and manage containerization tools
- Write Python scripts to automate recurring operational tasks and improve system efficiency
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth operations and consistent service availability
- Continuously improve system performance, monitoring, and automation practices to drive operational excellence
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Operations Engineer, Systems Engineer, or similar role
- Strong Linux administration skills (CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE)
- Hands-on experience with Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) and Elastic Cloud Enterprise (ECE)
- Proficiency with Ansible and AWX for infrastructure automation and configuration management
- Experience managing and maintaining cloud environments in enterprise settings
- Familiarity with Kubernetes-based deployments
- Solid understanding of LDAP, TLS, and SMTP integrations
- Strong Python scripting skills for automation and operational tooling
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in secure or air-gapped environments
- Willingness and readiness to travel as required by project or client needs is expected. This may include occasional domestic or international travel, sometimes on short notice.
