Job Description
Principal Data Scientist guiding AI innovation across Humana’s insurance and CenterWell business. Collaborating with experts to develop AI solutions improving healthcare quality and experience.
Responsibilities:
- AI solutions using Python, computer vision, and generative models like LLMs and diffusion models
- Ensure responsible development aligned with Humana’s ethical standards, focusing on transparency, safety, and real-world impact
- Build autonomous AI agents using frameworks (i.e. LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI) to support reasoning and decision-making in healthcare
- Embed AI into Humana’s systems and workflows
- Partner with business teams to understand challenges, co-create solutions, and communicate AI capabilities clearly—especially around generative AI
- Design for scalability, reliability, and compliance
- Work with engineering and product teams to implement best practices for deploying and maintaining AI models in production
Requirements:
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in data science
- 5+ years specifically focused on AI and NLP applications
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, with extensive experience in NLP libraries (e.g., NLTK, spaCy, Hugging Face Transformers) and frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch for model development
- Demonstrated ability to process and analyze large textual datasets, extracting meaningful insights, building predictive models, using generative AI techniques
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, with a track record of delivering data-driven solutions in a fast-paced environment.
