Job Description

Accountant maintaining financial records, reconciliations, and reports for Peak Credit Union. Supporting GL, audits, regulatory reporting, and credit union accounting operations remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform accounting work supporting financial record maintenance and financial report preparation
  • Support complex accounting tasks including GL maintenance, reconciliation, ad hoc financial and management reporting, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, and Prepaid Expenses
  • Ensure accounts are accurately charged and maintain systematic records of credit union transactions
  • Research and resolve discrepancies and accounting errors
  • Develop and maintain workbooks monitoring daily and monthly credit union activity
  • Maintain and reconcile assigned general ledger accounts on daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules
  • Collaborate with branches and departments to obtain information, resolve issues, and correct transactions
  • Prepare journal entries using GAAP knowledge
  • Assist with month-end financial statements and accounting reports
  • Support internal and external auditors and credit union examiners
  • Assist with state, federal, regulatory, and tax reporting
  • Maintain knowledge and cross-training to support credit union cash management and accounting staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience in a financial institution
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel formulas and functions, including pivot tables and lookups
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities for investigating and resolving accounting errors
  • Knowledge of intermediate GAAP accounting principles
  • Familiarity with accounting databases and tables
  • Ability to collaborate with branches and departments to gather information and resolve issues
  • Meticulous attention to detail for accurate reporting and transaction recording
  • Advanced knowledge of credit union systems and applications for research, analysis, and reporting
