Job Description
Accountant supporting financial reporting, reconciliations, and ASC 606 revenue recognition for HII’s naval and defense technology solutions. Building accounting automation and supporting SOX compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare fluctuation analyses and financial schedules for assigned entities
- Perform monthly balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations
- Review customer contracts to support revenue recognition under ASC 606
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account analysis
- Assist with audit-related requests by preparing schedules and supporting documentation
- Work within ERP and consolidation systems, including OneStream, to support reporting and data accuracy
- Build and maintain basic-to-moderate automation solutions, including RPA bots, workflow automation, Excel/Power Query tools, and scripts
- Participate in system implementations, reporting enhancements, and internal control (SOX) initiatives
- Uphold GAAP, internal policies, and internal control standards
- Report to the Manager of Financial Reporting, Revenue Recognition, and SOX Compliance
- Contribute to process improvements within the accounting function
Requirements:
- 3 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 1 year relevant experience with Masters in related field
- Strong understanding of GAAP, core accounting principles, and financial statements
- Experience with multi-entity accounting or consolidations
- Hands-on experience with reconciliations, close processes, and journal entries
- Experience working with a mid-to-large ERP system
- Ability to build or enhance accounting tools using Excel, including macros, formulas, templates, and Power Query
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with demonstrated attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across departments
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- CPA certification or actively pursuing preferred
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint, OneStream, SAP, or other ERP/consolidation systems preferred
- Hands-on experience with financial consolidation tools such as OneStream, CFIN, or SAP Analytics Cloud preferred
- Experience with RPA tools or similar automation platforms preferred
- Experience with technical accounting research and memo preparation preferred
- Experience with data visualization/reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau preferred
