Job Description
Principal AI architect leading Azure modernization and enterprise AI programs for 3Cloud, a cloud consultancy. Guiding architecture, delivery, executive consulting, mentorship, and AI innovation across large client programs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead architecture and technical strategy for large Azure programs and portfolios
- Define modernization blueprints and reference architectures across applications, platforms, and data
- Translate business and product strategy into cloud architecture roadmaps and execution plans
- Guide major architecture decisions, shared design standards, reusable models, and technical trade-offs
- Connect solutions into cohesive end-to-end architectures with clear ownership and integration contracts
- Provide architectural oversight through design reviews, forums, and governance
- Promote modular design, testability, CI/CD, observability, automation, and AI-assisted practices
- Lead executive and senior stakeholder conversations on cloud modernization, platform strategy, AI adoption, and program roadmaps
- Set discovery strategy and align backlogs with architecture and business outcomes
- Run architecture reviews and steering committees that produce documented decisions and actionable next steps
- Define architecture, discovery, and delivery frameworks for predictable incremental delivery across teams and time zones
- Track risks, technical debt, quality trends, and architectural drift
- Support opportunity qualification, estimating, strategic pursuits, and proposal development
- Mentor Senior Architects, Delivery Architects, and senior engineers
- Shape career paths, development plans, learning assets, interview standards, and promotion reviews
- Build a culture of psychological safety, inclusion, constructive feedback, and continuous improvement
- Identify account opportunities and build executive relationships
- Lead pursuit teams and shape technical strategy for strategic pursuits, projects, and programs
- Create solution options, program-level architectures, estimates, reusable assets, playbooks, templates, and accelerators
- Champion modern frameworks, cloud capabilities, automation, and responsible AI-assisted tools
Requirements:
- 12+ years of experience delivering solutions in application development, cloud platform engineering, DevOps, or data and analytics at enterprise scale
- 7+ years of experience in solution architecture and leading development or engineering teams
- 10+ years of relevant experience setting vision and leading enterprise-wide AI/ML adoption strategies
- Deep expertise across several areas including agents and orchestration, search and retrieval, LLM operations, responsible AI, AI platforms, cloud engineering, data integration, governance, analytics, and visualization
- Experience with Semantic Kernel, LangChain, or similar agent frameworks
- Experience with Azure AI Search, Pinecone, FAISS, Milvus, hybrid search, re-ranking, and embedding models
- Experience with evaluation frameworks, golden datasets, hallucination and groundedness validation, safety testing, telemetry, monitoring, deployment pipelines, and LLM optimization
- Knowledge of threat modeling, privacy reviews, data minimization, safety guardrails, policy enforcement, auditability, model risk management, and GDPR
- Hands-on experience with Azure AI services, Databricks, Azure OpenAI, APIs, containers, microservices, and DevOps pipelines
- Experience developing data pipelines, quality controls, metadata practices, and master data management approaches
- Experience delivering insights with Power BI and other visualization tools
- Proven ability to integrate emerging AI frameworks into enterprise-ready solutions
- Expertise with modern development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Cursor
- Knowledge of analytics and data science tools, frameworks, and advanced techniques
- Relevant Azure or Databricks certifications in AI, Data, or Architecture
- Experience leading Azure-based modernization, transformation, AI, or platform programs at enterprise scale
- Experience defining solution and platform architectures connecting business strategy with scalable technical design and measurable outcomes
- Experience leading hybrid and remote teams across time zones
- Deep understanding of core concepts, languages, frameworks, and design patterns in a primary domain
- Experience designing quality, automation, observability, and automated testing practices at scale
- Experience using AI-augmented development and integrating AI/ML capabilities into solutions
- Significant experience in Agile or Scrum environments at scale
- Proven success in consulting or professional services, including client-facing leadership and executive engagement
- Familiarity with key Azure services relevant to the candidate’s domain
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to continuous learning in cloud, data, and AI
- Ability to foster culture, inclusion, and community participation
- Relevant cloud architecture certifications are strongly preferred
