Job Description
Application Engineer applying ThermalWorks’ ultra-efficient, water-free data center cooling systems to customer projects. Reviewing designs, selecting equipment, and supporting installation and startup.
Responsibilities:
- Review design drawings and submittals for cooling system application accuracy, including equipment selection, capacity, and hydronic configuration
- Interface with customer and consulting design engineers to assess and validate equipment application
- Support the estimating group with equipment selections and technical scope input for accurate proposals
- Provide engineering support to the project management team, including technical questions, drawing conflicts, RFI and submittal responses
- Support customers with application and technical questions through installation and startup
- Feed field experience back into R&D and Product Development to improve products and quality
- Serve as the technical bridge between ThermalWorks products and customer projects
- Report to the Director, Research & Development
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in cooling equipment application or design review
- Expertise in data center cooling systems
- Experience with chillers, CDUs, and liquid cooling for AI or hyperscale deployments
- Applications engineering background at a cooling equipment manufacturer
- Fluent in mechanical design documents, schedules, and hydronic schematics
- Strong client communication skills and comfort working directly with customer engineers and consultants
