Job Description
Associate Attorney managing commercial litigation matters across Texas for Rastegar, a real estate investment firm. Drafting filings, supporting hearings, and coordinating with internal and outside counsel.
Responsibilities:
- Support active commercial and business litigation matters from initial assessment through resolution
- Track court dates, filing requirements, discovery deadlines, service deadlines, and other key dates across multiple matters
- Maintain accurate litigation trackers and keep assignments and filings on schedule
- Work with internal attorneys and outside counsel to move matters forward
- Draft and revise pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, affidavits, notices, demand letters, settlement documents, legal correspondence, and other court filings
- Assist with document collection, review, preservation, e-discovery, and discovery productions
- Review legal work product and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare witnesses, exhibits, hearing binders, deposition materials, mediation submissions, and trial materials
- Support hearings, depositions, mediations, meetings, trials, and other litigation-related proceedings
- Travel to different counties throughout Texas as required, potentially several trips per month
- Research Texas and federal law and prepare memoranda, draft filings, or practical recommendations
- Communicate legal issues and next steps to internal business stakeholders
- Coordinate with outside counsel and provide information, documentation, and support needed for each matter
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active Texas Bar license in good standing
- 3–6 years of commercial or business litigation experience
- Strong hands-on experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and other litigation documents
- Strong legal research, writing, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines across multiple active matters
- Texas state and federal court experience preferred
- Experience managing discovery and working with outside counsel preferred
- Familiarity with e-filing, e-discovery, and matter-management systems preferred
- Previous in-house experience preferred
- Candidates must have meaningful hands-on litigation experience; primarily transactional, corporate, investor relations, or contract administration experience is not suitable
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future
