Job Description
Associate Developer building software for HealthStream, a healthcare workforce solutions company. Designing, troubleshooting, and maintaining products using SQL, CI/CD, and development tools.
Responsibilities:
- Work alongside experienced software engineers and technical specialists
- Design, develop, and maintain HealthStream software products according to technology best practices and product offerings
- Work with team leaders and senior developers to understand and refine requirements
- Design and estimate effort for new features or subsystems from business concept through detailed technical design
- Develop quality, defect-free software adhering to company coding and documentation standards
- Adhere to HealthStream security policies, procedures, and assigned training
- Perform basic troubleshooting using a code debugger
- Identify trouble areas in code, server configuration, or databases
- Apply basic understanding of CI/CD and code deployment patterns
- Use integrated development environments and source control systems
- Leverage AI tooling regularly to enhance quality and personal throughput
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- One year of software development experience preferred
- Basic understanding of CI/CD and code deployment patterns
- Basic experience with SQL and relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL
- Some experience with writing unit tests
- Experience with leveraging AI tooling to enhance personal productivity and quality
- Preferred: C# programming language and .NET development
- Preferred: Entity Framework Core
- Preferred: Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud concepts
- Preferred: Infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
- Ability to communicate clearly to team members verbally and in written form
- Strong logic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent time management, prioritization, attention to detail, and organization skills
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Ability to learn via self-directed courseware and mentoring
