Job Description
Backend Software Engineer building Rust cloud integrations for MetalBear’s mirrord Kubernetes development platform. Managing cloud resources and enabling fast, production-like development feedback.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute Rust code that creates, manages, reconfigures, and adapts cloud resources
- Use AI smartly to deliver high-quality code faster
- Collaborate with the engineering team on architecture, new feature design, and infrastructure
- Engage directly with users to gather requirements, develop solutions, and debug issues
- Build features for automatically managing cloud services such as message brokers, databases, and Kubernetes resources
- Create virtually separate environments with minimal resource duplication
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of professional software development experience
- At least 1 year of writing production-grade Rust
- Based between UTC-5 and UTC+4
- Strong systems-level thinking
- Ability to debug complex, distributed environments
- Comfort working async in a remote-first startup environment
- Familiarity with cloud-native environments, including Docker, containers, and Kubernetes, beyond the basics
- Familiarity with backend infrastructure tooling such as datastores, message brokers, and GitOps tools
- Good communication skills
- Experience building developer tools (nice to have)
- Experience building Kubernetes operators or components interacting with the Kubernetes API (nice to have)
- DevOps or Platform experience (nice to have)
