Job Description
Bankruptcy Attorney representing institutional creditors in Louisiana bankruptcy proceedings. Managing hearings, pleadings, dockets, legal guidance, and case-law compliance for Padgett Law Group.
Responsibilities:
- Attend hearings and/or prepare local appearance counsel with clear instructions regarding desired outcomes
- Provide timely hearing results internally and to clients when requested
- Review and sign pleadings before client and/or court submission
- Monitor ECFs and dockets in real time and escalate actionable docket events
- Confirm internal and external systems are completed timely and appropriately
- Ensure staff have workable templates complying with local, federal, district, and judge-specific rules
- Escalate, manage, and mitigate matters of risk on files
- Provide loan-level support to firm staff and clients
- Answer questions and communicate timely with staff and clients
- Provide detailed guidance and robust legal analysis
- Guide staff in preparing pleadings and provide templates
- Coordinate with leadership to identify process improvements
- Stay current on relevant case law and bankruptcy code developments
Requirements:
- Active bar admission for the state in which hired, with member in good standing status
- Admission or ability to get admitted to all bankruptcy courts within the state of active bar membership
- Experience representing creditors in bankruptcy proceedings in the jurisdiction hired, or willingness to obtain bankruptcy knowledge
- Ability to work with others in a congenial and team-oriented manner
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to continual change
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
