Job Description

Business Analyst supporting Department of Veterans Affairs loan-guaranty technology modernization. Translating business needs into requirements, user stories, data flows, and decommissioning plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop an understanding of the program's current and future technology needs and stakeholder and Veteran benefits
  • Perform current-state analysis, stakeholder interviews, and capability assessments
  • Support technology modernization and legacy system decommissioning planning
  • Develop user stories and break down requirements into deliverable functionality
  • Analyze application and business-domain data requirements and business rules
  • Understand end-to-end data flows from source to screen across capability areas
  • Document business capabilities, future-state processes, gaps, and dependencies
  • Maintain documentation for new feature development and legacy system modernization and retirement
  • Contribute to product and solution design, specifications, and development
  • Create high-quality client deliverables with regular supervision from the team lead
  • Prepare and review solution options with the team lead
  • Build collaborative relationships with the client and delivery team
  • Maintain positive client relationships

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience
  • Alternatively, an Associate's Degree and an additional 2 years of experience
  • Alternatively, a high school diploma and an additional 4 years of experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail with proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to shift focus between high-priority tasks as required
  • Demonstrated leadership in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to navigate challenges and consistently complete work
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • Availability during core business hours of 8am–5pm ET
  • Preferred: Experience supporting the WebLGY application for the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Preferred: Existing Public Trust clearance at the Department of Veterans Affairs or another federal agency
  • Preferred: In-depth mortgage industry knowledge
  • Preferred: Experience implementing Salesforce and/or AWS solutions for the federal government or Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Preferred: Experience using JIRA and Confluence
  • Preferred: Experience supporting technology modernization or legacy system decommissioning assessments
  • Preferred: Familiarity with AI-assisted tools for requirements analysis, documentation, and process mapping
