Job Description
C++/C contractor modernizing a telecommunications client's Linux call-handling platform. Migrating CentOS 7 to RHEL 9 and 32-bit C++ subsystems to 64-bit architecture.
Responsibilities:
- Migrate 32-bit call handling C++ subsystems to a 64-bit architecture
- Develop scripts and techniques to migrate operating systems from CentOS 7 to RHEL 9
- Support modernization of Java-based web configurators
- Participate in testing and release of the migrated system
- Update CI/CD pipelines and other DevOps tools to support the migration project
- Perform security tests and implement remediations
- Work alongside an established engineering team while driving platform modernization according to a defined migration plan
- Help the core team remain focused on field support
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience developing C++ applications on Linux platforms
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Linux operating system development and bash scripting
- Strong technical grasp of networking, virtualization, and security
- Legally entitled to work in Canada without employer sponsorship
- Able to contract directly with a Canadian entity as a corporation or sole proprietor
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with an established engineering team
- Background in multi-threaded, high-availability real-time systems preferred
- Experience with other Linux operating system migrations preferred
- Experience with agentic AI techniques for software engineering preferred
- Proficiency in Python, Java, or C# preferred
- Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps toolchains such as TeamCity, Perforce, Jenkins, or GitHub preferred
- Exposure to voice infrastructure and telephony, such as SIP, PBX, and PSTN preferred
