Job Description
Charge Resolution Specialist resolving Epic charge-review errors for Intermountain Health’s nonprofit healthcare system. Improving compliant charge capture, routing, and revenue-cycle accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Review and resolve Epic charge review workqueue errors and warnings before claim submission
- Support additional Epic workqueue assignments to maintain operational efficiency and throughput
- Research and correct missing charges, incorrect modifiers, and charge-routing issues
- Apply CPT/HCPCS coding principles and payer billing rules under approved guidance
- Partner with clinic Charge Champions, specialty service lines, and revenue cycle stakeholders
- Resolve complex or high-impact charge issues and serve as an escalation point
- Identify trends, recurring defects, and workflow gaps and escalate systemic findings
- Recommend workflow improvements to reduce defects and improve charge capture accuracy
- Support knowledge sharing and mentoring within the Charge Resolution Specialists team
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle operations
- Experience working within electronic medical record systems, preferably Epic workqueues
- Working knowledge of CPT/HCPCS coding principles and payer billing requirements under established guidance
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to manage workload, prioritize tasks, and resolve issues independently
- Experience working with pre-bill encounters considered by the hiring manager
- Experience reviewing and analyzing claims errors and system discrepancies, determining root causes, and developing corrective actions
- Familiarity with professional revenue cycle processes, including charge routing and modifier application is preferred
- Experience supporting Epic charge review or charge capture workflows is preferred
- Experience identifying trends and contributing to workflow or process improvement initiatives is preferred
- Ability to meet stated physical requirements, including frequent computer use, verbal communication, hearing, reading, and manual dexterity
