Job Description
Civil litigation attorney managing real estate and business disputes for Florida clients. Handling motions, discovery, depositions, settlements, hearings, and trials remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Manage an active civil litigation caseload, including real estate and business litigation matters
- Reach out to opposing parties and draft and send demand letters
- Negotiate settlements and handle pre-suit communications and resolution efforts
- Lead matters from intake strategy through settlement, mediation/arbitration, or trial
- Develop case-specific legal strategies aligned with client goals, risk tolerance, and cost realities
- Maintain proactive case timelines, control deadlines, and ensure forward motion
- Draft and argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions and manage hearings
- Drive written discovery strategy, meet-and-confers, motions to compel/protective orders, and evidentiary positioning
- Take and defend depositions and prepare witnesses
- Appear in court, mostly remotely, for contested and uncontested matters, motion hearings, and trials
- Prepare evidence, witnesses, exhibits, outlines, and trial themes
- Communicate clearly and consistently with clients, set expectations, and build confidence
- Deliver practical recommendations, options, and next steps
- Improve templates, workflows, and internal processes
- Use advanced legal technology and automation tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency
- Complete training and shadowing with the Division Lead before independently handling files end-to-end
- Contribute ideas for workflow and template improvements that save time or improve quality
- Help grow and shape the division, expand the practice, strengthen the firm’s reputation, and attract, develop, and retain talented team members
Requirements:
- Active Florida Bar license in good standing
- Trial and motions practice experience required, including jury or bench trial involvement and comfort appearing in court
- Ability to manage disputes through settlement, mediation, arbitration, or trial
- Ability to manage a fast-moving caseload
- Professional judgment and responsiveness
- Strong client-facing communication in a remote environment
- Resourcefulness in solving problems, finding answers, and moving cases forward
- Curiosity and ability to identify leverage points and learn quickly
- Fearlessness and initiative in handling difficult conversations and complex matters
- High ownership of deadlines, client trust, and results
- Currently reside in Florida
