Job Description
Professional Coder II coding and interpreting complex surgical procedures at ProMedica. Ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and payor standards while working remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Code complex surgical procedures across multiple specialties at ProMedica.
- Interpret operative notes and procedural documentation as you code provider office and hospital charges for all departments supported by professional billing.
- Ensure compliance in accordance with official coding guidelines and payor standards.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to pass internal coding test.
- Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding.
- 3 years of physician/professional complex surgical and E&M coding experience in a health care system or medical office setting.
- Complex surgical coding experience includes OB/Gyn, Gastrointestinal, Neurology, Orthopedics, Cardiovascular, Cardiothoracic, Urology, ENT, Plastic Surgery and General Surgery.
- CPC, CCS-P, RHIT or RHIA certification required.
- Knowledge of the professional billing revenue cycle process (preferred).
- Knowledge and experience with Epic and other coding applications (preferred).
- 4+ years of physician/professional complex surgical and E&M coding experience in a health care system or medical office setting (preferred).
