Job Description
Coder responsible for reviewing documentation and assigning appropriate codes. Ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and standards at Southern Illinois Healthcare.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews provider documentation and revises and/or assigns ICD-10-CM codes and CPT/HCPCS codes
- Researches and takes appropriate action on any coding/claim edits
- Coding focus is contingent on open position and impending certification by the employee
Requirements:
- High School Diploma required
- Preferred Associate or Bachelor Degree in Health Information or a Healthcare related discipline
- Preferred CCS, CCS-P, CCA, or CPC
- Completion of SIH Coding Management approved CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10 coding education program within the previous 12 months
- Passage of certification exam within 24 months of hire is required
