Job Description

PB Coding Coordinator resolving Epic work-queue edits and assigning medical codes for Intermountain Health, a nonprofit healthcare system. Auditing quality and educating providers and coders.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and resolve coding edits in assigned Epic work queues
  • Review medical record documentation and assign appropriate CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes, and modifiers
  • Navigate Epic EMR, reports, and work queues
  • Evaluate coding bundling guidelines and modifier usage
  • Apply knowledge of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule
  • Communicate coding and denial trends and provider education opportunities to coding leadership
  • Communicate with providers through Epic in-basket messages and email
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite and Optum Encoder Pro
  • Provide education and training for medical providers and department coders
  • Perform quality assurance audits within the specialty team
  • Ensure compliance with coding regulations and guidelines
  • Assist leadership with communications, tip sheets, and workflows
  • Monitor coding workflows and identify improvement opportunities
  • Research and respond to specialty-area coding requests
  • Promote Intermountain Health’s mission, vision, and values
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of pro fee coding experience
  • At least three (3) years within the assigned specialty service line
  • Required credential: CPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist Physician (CCS-P)
  • Preferred seven plus (7+) years of related coding experience
  • Preferred related specialty coding credential
  • E/M (Evaluation & Management) coding experience required
  • Experience coding for the assigned specialty-specific service line required
  • Prefer previous experience using Epic and working work queues
  • Prior Epic/PB Resolute experience
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
  • CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding skills
  • Ability to see and read information, labels, documents, and monitors
  • Ability to verbally communicate and hear and understand spoken information
  • Manual dexterity for frequent computer use and precise manipulation of supplies and equipment
