Job Description

Field service technician installing, testing, and troubleshooting Active Protection Systems for General Dynamics military vehicles. Supporting customers, suppliers, and contractors through extensive field travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the field service engineering team with Active Protection Systems (APS)
  • Provide hands-on technical expertise for installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of APS kits on military vehicles and platforms
  • Interact with U.S. military personnel, foreign supplier partners, vehicle prime contractors, and other stakeholders at customer sites
  • Support the engineering design and development of electrical control and automation systems and devices
  • Set up, configure, troubleshoot, and repair electrical control systems and prototypes
  • Assist with testing systems, devices, and instruments
  • Document testing procedures and measure and record performance results using established methods
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and tools used for testing and maintenance
  • Conduct diagnostic testing and identify system faults in the field
  • Provide appropriate remedial actions in the field
  • Install and calibrate production system platforms
  • Engage directly with customers, suppliers, contractors, and other project stakeholders
  • Travel, including possible OCONUS trips

Requirements:

  • Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 1–2 years' experience OR equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
  • Knowledge of electronic equipment installation
  • Knowledge of engineering support
  • Knowledge of laboratory supply management
  • Knowledge of performance analysis
  • Technical troubleshooting skills
  • Testing result reporting
  • Knowledge of control systems
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical components/instruments
  • Test documentation skills
  • Equipment repair skills
  • Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Software proficiency
  • Ability to remain stationary at a desk and/or computer for extended periods
  • Ability to move regularly throughout GD-OTS facilities
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery
  • Willingness to work a different shift if requested
  • Willingness to work outside normal business hours as required
  • More than 50% travel likely
