Job Description
Country Group Forming Leader improving glass-bottle manufacturing capabilities for O-I. Providing technical leadership, training, and process improvements across North American facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Implement significant improvements in manufacturing capabilities related to the Forming discipline across the country group
- Improve performance across the country group while standardizing and executing GMF best-practice processes
- Provide Forming expertise and technical leadership to O-I North America facilities
- Lead improvement initiatives involving process, productivity, and quality
- Provide technical leadership on production issues and process improvements
- Build close working relationships with manufacturing personnel to meet safety, process, and organizational requirements
- Provide technical training and leadership to build factory capability
- Identify and direct continuous-improvement efforts involving forehearth and IS Machine maintenance, operation, and efficiencies
- Support Plant Network Leaders in executing Manufacturing Fundamentals requirements
- Lead yearly audit assessment and review processes for assigned and Focus Factories
- Provide SME support for complex technical issues through remote and field technical assistance
- Produce technical reports and trip reports as needed
- Develop regional Forming capability through training, coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing
- Support startup, commissioning, and stabilization for new equipment, major repairs, and product introductions
- Partner with Engineering, Mold Design, Glass Science, Furnace, Quality, and Machine Repair functions to resolve complex issues
- Lead and participate in country group and global discipline meetings
- Represent country group interests in the global discipline
- Support facilities in developing discipline goals and targets and drive accountability through reporting
- Lead and exemplify O-I Cares safety principles around plant activities
- Work directly with Plant Managers, Production Managers, Forming and Job Change Leaders, and Machine Repair Managers
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (trade or mechanical preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the required technical area
- Detailed knowledge of applicable processes and associated equipment
- Proven experience leading and influencing others to change and improve technical processes
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Glass plant experience desired
- Strong fundamental computer skills, including e-mail, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Enablon will be required; training will be provided
- Ability to travel up to 50% to 75% depending on activity levels and initiatives
- Typically available Monday through Friday, with some weekend work/travel expected
