Job Description

Credit leadership for TD’s commercial real estate lending and risk management portfolio. Managing underwriting, risk, loan structuring, approvals, and regional credit teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage credit underwriting and credit administration for a large and complex regional portfolio or Specialty Banking product vertical
  • Establish credit structures, Borrower Risk Ratings, and Facility Risk Ratings for new and existing credit relationships
  • Lead Market Credit Managers, Senior Portfolio Specialists, Credit Specialists, and Credit Analysts
  • Manage regional credit operational risk while driving profitable business growth
  • Participate early in deal structuring with the Regional Director or Team Lead and Credit Risk Management
  • Sponsor and advance transactions through the approval process
  • Ensure adherence to risk policies, operational risk processes, and underwriting guidelines
  • Ensure timely and consistent underwriting and closing of new and existing credit relationships
  • Direct annual reviews, renewals, and loan covenant compliance reviews
  • Lead commercial loan structuring, pricing models, RAROC, Maestro, and loan reporting systems
  • Balance business development, loan pricing, and credit risk
  • Structure creative and competitive solutions for complex customer needs
  • Monitor macroeconomic, industry, and business-environment changes and establish action plans
  • Escalate regional credit issues to the Regional Director or Team Lead and Credit Risk Management
  • Ensure staff operate within TD Bank Group Risk Appetite Principles and regulatory and compliance guidelines
  • Approve loans and annual reviews within delegated authority and make recommendations on other applications
  • Build relationships with business partners across the Division and TD Bank, NA
  • Coach credit management staff on value-added, compliant credit solutions
  • Ensure responses to regulatory, Audit, and Credit Risk Review inquiries

Requirements:

  • 4-year undergraduate degree required; advanced degree in a financial discipline preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in a related field
  • In-depth understanding of the real estate industry
  • Knowledge of business development techniques and credit decisions
  • Excellent credit underwriting and administration skills
  • Superior ability to identify and mitigate risk
  • Understanding of value-add credit structuring in a commercial banking environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and business acumen
