Job Description
Remote customer billing representative resolving healthcare account and payment inquiries for Accendra Health. Researching balances, processing payments, adjustments, refunds, and insurance rebilling.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding account status via phone, mail, email, and online
- Research customer accounts and explain or resolve billing concerns for fully or partially unpaid accounts
- Resolve billing and collection discrepancies
- Set up recurring payment methods for ongoing services
- Prepare adjustments, write-offs, or refunds as necessary
- Process payments and resubmit patient statements
- Pursue unpaid patient balances and payment obligations when insurance defaults, as permitted
- Re-bill insurance companies when appropriate
- Comply with FDCPA and HIPAA regulations
- Coordinate collection agency communication regarding outsourced invoices
- Accurately enter account activity into the billing system
- Escalate recurring issues to the lead or department supervisor/manager
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements:
- High school diploma is required
- One year of related experience is required
- Customer Service, Collections or Medical experience
- Basic skills in Access, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, Word
- English (reading, writing, verbal)
- Basic level mathematical proficiency, with a strong ability to understand, interpret and develop spreadsheet data
- Ability to comply with FDCPA and HIPAA regulations
- Ability to physically perform the essential functions, with reasonable accommodations available
- Ability to work remotely while physically residing and working within the United States
- Occasional travel as required
