Job Description
Data Engineer and Metadata Specialist at Oregon Health Authority analyzing and coordinating information systems. Leading efforts in data engineering and metadata management to enhance operations and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Provides expertise and leadership to analyze, plan, develop, integrate, implement and coordinate the operations, maintenance, installation and construction of information systems DBMS infrastructure.
- Frequent contact with vendors to assess new technology and with contracted personnel to provide oversight, negotiate contract modifications, and analyze compliance with contract specifications.
Requirements:
- 6 years’ experience with Microsoft Azure or 6 years’ experience with Microsoft Azure Data Services
- Six (6) years of information systems experience in Data and Metadata Management OR (b) An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field.
- Four (4) years of information systems experience in Data and Metadata Management OR (c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience in Data and Metadata Management OR (d) Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.
- Minimum of 5 years in data engineering, data analysis, metadata management, or related disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, metadata standards, and data stewardship best practices.
- Experience with relational databases with a requirement for Microsoft SQL Server.
- Familiarity with cloud data tools and frameworks like Purview, Snowflake, and Synapse.
- Experience with cloud platforms and their data services with a preference for Microsoft Azure.
- Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines for data acquisition, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) processes.
- Develop and maintain metadata repositories, ensuring data assets are properly documented and classified for accessibility and governance.
- Create and maintain logical and physical data models to support data warehousing and analytics initiatives, with a preference for experience using Erwin Data Modeler.
