Job Description
Unit Lead Data Engineering leading a Data Engineering team at evoila Frankfurt GmbH. Overseeing innovative data projects and modern data architectures for future technological solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Data Engineering team both functionally and disciplinarily
- Build, design and further develop modern data platforms and data lakehouse architectures (e.g., based on Databricks)
- Provide strategic advice to our clients on the introduction and scaling of data-driven platforms across various industries
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for processing large volumes of data in both batch and streaming scenarios
- Ensure quality, best practices and technical excellence within the team — from code reviews and architectural decisions to standards for DataOps and CI/CD
- Actively shape the unit strategy and portfolio and support go-to-market and pre-sales activities
Requirements:
- Professional experience, degree or vocational training in IT
- Several years (5+ years) of experience in data engineering
- Solid experience with Databricks (e.g., Delta Lake, Spark, Workflows)
- Experience in functional or disciplinary leadership of teams or in leading complex projects
- Knowledge of modern data architectures (e.g., data lakehouse, data mesh)
- Confident use of Python, SQL and/or Scala
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP) and DevOps/DataOps practices (e.g., CI/CD, Git, Terraform)
- Structured and independent way of working
- Good communication skills and quick comprehension
- German fluent (C2) / English at least B2
