Job Description

Electrical Design Engineer developing utility-scale BESS layouts, studies, and EPC packages. Supporting Ulteig’s renewable energy and critical infrastructure projects across North America.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop renewable project design/construction packages for utility-scale systems (50–500MW+)
  • Create BESS layouts, electrical one-lines, collection systems, collection system studies, and equipment installation details
  • Interact directly with clients for successful project execution
  • Design projects with multidisciplinary teams of 2–4 people
  • Support early-stage projects with conceptual designs and material take-offs
  • Contribute to internal engineering standards, toolsets, and work processes
  • Turn conceptual system ideas into optimized EPC designs
  • Maintain project schedules and achieve target due dates
  • Enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement using evolving technology and AI tools

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering required or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in power systems
  • Detailed design of Renewable BESS strongly preferred
  • Experience with CYMCAP preferred
  • Experience with ETAP and/or EasyPower preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to employees, management, and clients
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience/familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit preferred but not necessary
  • Self-starter willing to identify and implement improvements
  • Ability to devise new approaches to problems
  • Ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
  • Knowledge of BESS and/or wind systems, NEC requirements, and construction practices strongly preferred
  • Ability to multitask and manage numerous projects/tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain project schedules and achieve target due dates
  • Excellent presentation and verbal/written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships
  • If working remotely, reliable high-speed internet capabilities
  • Up to 15% travel required
  • Valid driver's license preferred
  • Openness to innovation and ability to apply evolving technology and AI tools
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
