Job Description
Radiologic Technologist performing radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures for Geisinger patients in Pennsylvania communities. Ensuring safe imaging, quality images, accurate documentation, and licensed-practitioner support.
Responsibilities:
- Administer ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes
- Perform a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures
- Acquire and analyze data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner
- Independently perform or assist licensed practitioners with radiographic, fluoroscopic, specialized radiologic, and noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures
- Prepare, administer, and document medications and radiation exposure in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies
- Verify orders, identify and prepare patients, corroborate clinical histories, and document information confidentially
- Apply imaging protocols and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety and care using ALARA principles
- Evaluate images for positioning and technical quality; verify archival storage, data transfer, and post-processing when applicable
- Educate and monitor students and other healthcare providers
- Perform procedures outside the Radiology Department, including in the operating room, Endoscopy, and ICU
- Satisfy job-specific obligations and comply with organization policies and procedures
Requirements:
- Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred)
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Radiography (R) certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months of the date of hire
- Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2 within 24 months
- Minimum of 1 year of related work experience (Preferred)
- Ability to perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures
- Knowledge of ionizing radiation administration, radiation safety, ALARA principles, medications, vascular access, imaging protocols, image evaluation, archival storage, and data transfer
- Ability to comply with federal and state laws, regulations, and institutional policies
- Ability to work days and 40 scheduled hours per week
- Work authorization in the United States is implied by the United States work shift/location context
