Job Description
Director of Construction Operations overseeing and scaling residential solar construction operations in Iowa. Responsible for improving operational performance and ensuring compliance with standards.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day residential solar construction operations across multiple teams and departments
- Lead installation, electrical, service, scheduling, and field management operations
- Develop and improve operational processes, workflows, and accountability standards
- Monitor installation timelines, production metrics, and operational KPIs
- Ensure all projects are completed safely and in compliance with NEC, AHJ, and company standards
- Support manpower planning, crew utilization, and operational forecasting
- Partner with permitting, engineering, inspections, and executive leadership teams
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions
- Oversee quality control initiatives and reduce operational deficiencies and repeat service issues
- Manage field leadership development, coaching, and performance accountability
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and operational growth initiatives
- Maintain professional communication with homeowners, inspectors, vendors, and internal teams
Requirements:
- Strong leadership experience in residential solar construction operations
- Proven ability to manage multiple operational departments simultaneously
- Deep understanding of solar installation workflows, electrical operations, and field logistics
- Experience building operational systems, accountability structures, and scalable processes
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to lead in fast-paced, high-growth environments
- Strong communication and leadership presence
- Experience managing field managers, electrical leadership, and operational teams
- Working knowledge of NEC requirements, inspections, and AHJ processes
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Prior Director-level or senior operations leadership experience preferred
- Journeyman or Master Electrician background preferred
- NABCEP certification
- Experience managing multi-market solar operations
- Strong background in service operations and first-visit resolution initiatives
- Experience with battery storage systems and advanced solar technologies
