Job Description
Director overseeing NFPA-compliant fire protection project operations across branches. Driving financial performance, execution consistency, scalability, and acquisition due diligence for Impact Fire.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for a large, fast-growing fire protection project business covering fire sprinkler, fire alarm, suppression, and special hazards system installations
- Oversee multi-branch fire protection project operations and align execution with corporate and regional goals
- Implement standardized estimating, design, installation, commissioning, and closeout processes across branches
- Collabor with regional and local leadership to align project capacity with pipeline and backlog growth
- Partner with operations and finance on P&L oversight, budgeting, WIP reviews, cost-to-complete accuracy, and forecasting
- Strengthen cost controls, change order processes, field productivity metrics, and material management
- Ensure projects meet NFPA code requirements and Authority Having Jurisdiction expectations
- Provide hands-on guidance on engineering coordination, fabrication logistics, and field execution challenges
- Establish quality control checkpoints at kickoff, mid-project, and closeout
- Serve as an operational link between project teams, finance, branch leaders, and regional leadership
- Support integration of newly acquired companies and alignment of operational processes
- Partner with design and engineering teams on submittals, permitting workflows, and installation planning
- Develop and mentor project managers, estimators, coordinators, and design staff across multiple branches
- Support recruiting and evaluation of project-related talent
- Promote accountability, safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
- Improve project execution and estimating effectiveness to support organic growth
- Lead scalability planning for new geographic territories or service line expansions
- Champion safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, NFPA standards, and AHJ mandates
- Partner with safety leadership on training, audits, and jobsite practices
- Conduct acquisition-target job walks and assess installation quality, project management, safety, field execution, backlog, estimating, engineering, procurement, and operational maturity
- Participate in M&A due diligence and develop written recommendations for senior leadership
- Assist with operational onboarding and process alignment for acquired project businesses
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in fire protection, life safety, mechanical contracting, or construction project management
- 5+ years leading multi-location project operations in the fire protection industry
- Strong knowledge of NFPA codes, Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements, and fire protection system installation standards
- Proven experience managing project P&Ls, forecasting, WIP reviews, and job costing
- Experience supporting or participating in M&A operational due diligence is preferred
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, fire protection, construction management, or related discipline preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to travel regularly for branch visits, project reviews, and acquisition evaluations
