Job Description
DeepHealth engineering director scaling health technology platforms and products. Leading distributed systems strategy, engineering execution, and high-performing teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the engineering organization responsible for building and scaling DeepHealth’s platform and products
- Define technical strategy, architecture decisions, engineering vision, technical roadmap, and platform strategy
- Lead architecture and design for complex distributed systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
- Establish engineering standards, processes, best practices, and operational excellence
- Own engineering delivery, system uptime, and technical debt management
- Partner with Product Management to execute the product roadmap and translate business requirements into engineering plans
- Drive agile delivery and high-quality releases meeting regulatory and compliance standards
- Collaborate with Clinical, Data Science, Design, Product, Operations, Commercial, and executive leadership teams
- Establish engineering KPIs and OKRs and communicate technical concepts to senior stakeholders and the Board
- Drive innovation in tooling, automation, and AI/ML adoption
- Recruit, retain, develop, supervise, coach, and evaluate engineering talent across multiple disciplines
- Define team structures, roles, career ladders, performance frameworks, and onboarding programs
- Assign and prioritize workloads, monitor progress, adjust resources, and manage deadlines
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback and development plans, and implement improvement plans when needed
- Foster technical excellence, accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and a positive work environment
- Evaluate emerging technologies and build-versus-buy decisions
- Contribute to company strategy, culture, and executive decision-making
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in engineering leadership roles
- Experience ideally in SaaS, health tech, or regulated industries
- Proven track record building and scaling distributed software systems and high-performing engineering organizations
- Deep expertise in AWS, GCP, or Azure; microservices; APIs; and modern DevOps/CI-CD practices
- Ability to participate in code, architecture reviews, and executive-level roadmap discussions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical mindset using engineering metrics, system performance data, and business outcomes
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
- Excellent program management skills and ability to drive multiple initiatives in parallel
- Experience with GitHub, Jira, PagerDuty, Datadog, or similar platforms
- Experience working in HIPAA-compliant environments
- Familiarity with HL7 and FHIR is a plus
- Ability to follow employment laws, company policies, data privacy, compliance, safety, and confidentiality standards
- Regular attendance and punctuality according to DeepHealth guidelines
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%
- Ability to perform the stated physical demands and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds
