Job Description
Educational Media Developer creating engaging multimedia assets enhancing online learning experiences. Collaborates with instructional designers and faculty to translate academic content into compelling visual media.
Responsibilities:
- Creates engaging multimedia content that translates complex academic concepts into clear, visually compelling learning experiences aligned with course objectives
- Independently supports multimedia projects, however, will need support for bringing in new ideas or approach
- Partners with instructional designers, faculty, and media teams to develop and integrate multimedia solutions that support course goals and the overall learning experience
- Responsible for working with faculty and instructional designers to determine and contribute creative solutions for presenting course content
- Ensures multimedia assets meet accessibility standards and quality expectations while maintaining consistency with institutional guidelines
- Contributes to course development workflows by managing media assets, supporting production processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience in multimedia design, digital media, graphic design, educational technology, instructional design, or a related field
- Experience developing multimedia or digital media assets in higher education, corporate training, or a comparable learning environment
- Experience using professional multimedia tools for graphics, video editing, or interactive media development
- Experience working within collaborative project teams
- At least three years experience developing educational multimedia materials
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, D2L)
- Familiarity with accessibility standards for digital learning, such as WCAG 2.1 and Section 508, and their application to multimedia content
- Familiarity with Quality Matters
- Experience creating instructional videos or educational media for academic audiences
- Experience working within structured course development or instructional design production environments
- Experience in graphic design or motion graphics
- Illustration experience is a plus
- Experience creating digital learning media such as graphics, instructional videos, animations, or interactive elements
- Experience developing multimedia with multiple tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, video capture software, photo manipulation, or similar media production software
