Job Description

Engineering Delivery Manager improving predictability, quality, and visibility across external engineering teams. Progress Partners builds SaaS and mobile platforms used worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Build visibility into external teams’ work, ownership, and delivery risks
  • Ensure delivery plans are realistic, transparent, aligned with business priorities, and tracked
  • Identify teams falling behind and diagnose root causes
  • Challenge weak plans, unrealistic estimates, unclear ownership, and superficial status reporting
  • Validate that reported progress reflects actual engineering output
  • Improve planning and forecasting discipline using evidence-based delivery
  • Work with QA and engineering leads to track escaped bugs, rework, release readiness, Definition of Ready/Done, and quality gates
  • Track cross-team dependencies, ensure blockers are owned and resolved, and run fact-based escalations
  • Assess external team composition, role coverage, seniority mix, ownership areas, and capability gaps
  • Identify delivery and quality issues caused by team setup, ownership, skills, allocation, technical leadership, or requirements
  • Ensure external teams follow company delivery rules, documentation expectations, engineering standards, quality gates, and reporting practices
  • Build vendor/team delivery scorecards
  • Create escalation paths for repeated missed commitments or quality issues
  • Communicate delivery status, risks, and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating issues into business impact

Requirements:

  • 7+ years in software delivery, technical/engineering delivery management, technical program management, or engineering leadership
  • Proven experience managing delivery across multiple external teams, vendors, or distributed partners
  • Experience overseeing delivery across engineering teams, vendors, or delivery groups of roughly 20–35 people
  • Exposure to different business models or product environments is a strong plus
  • Strong grasp of software development lifecycles, agile delivery, estimation, release planning, QA workflows, and engineering team dynamics
  • Ability to build delivery reporting and analysis and identify gaps hidden behind reporting
  • Fluency with delivery metrics including planned vs. actual, cycle time, throughput, escaped bugs, rework, blocked work, and predictability
  • Risk and dependency management
  • Excellent communication with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Hands-on experience with Jira, GitHub, Confluence, Linear, or Azure DevOps
  • Experience in multi-product SaaS environments and companies dependent on external engineering partners is nice to have
  • Experience building vendor scorecards or delivery performance frameworks is nice to have
  • Experience introducing Definition of Ready/Done, release checklists, or quality gates is nice to have
  • Resume must be submitted in English
  • Located within a ±4 hour range from the Central European Time zone
