Job Description

Engineering team lead modernizing BlueCross Tennessee’s Node/React platforms for member healthcare services. Leading engineers, reliability improvements, enterprise systems, and AI-assisted development practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a high-visibility initiative focused on evolving member-facing platforms for access to healthcare services
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers
  • Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and business stakeholders
  • Stabilize and modernize Node/React-based platforms
  • Improve delivery predictability and system reliability
  • Oversee solution design and code quality
  • Coach engineers on AI-assisted development practices
  • Manage day-to-day team operations involving system maintenance and development
  • Assign, monitor, and review work progress and accuracy
  • Provide staff management oversight, including hiring, promotion, performance reviews, assessments, and professional development
  • Direct, motivate, and develop staff
  • Ensure adherence to policies, plans, objectives, budgets, and staffing allocations
  • Track team-level project details and serve as technical subject matter expert
  • Provide leadership during periods of transition
  • Participate in a weekly on-call rotation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Sciences related field or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of experience with information technology concepts, application development and/or enterprise system maintenance methodology, terminology, and standards
  • 5 years of systems maintenance and/or programming experience
  • 3 years of expert working knowledge of at least one programming language and/or one enterprise system in use at BCBST
  • Knowledge of information technology concepts, methodology, terminology, and standards
  • Proven skill to develop and/or maintain an enterprise IT system
  • Subject matter expertise in one or more enterprise IT systems
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Microsoft Office and email skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical co-workers
  • Willingness to adjust schedule for maintenance and upgrades outside business hours
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
