Job Description
English Instructor teaching individualized ACT/SAT core skills at Vanguard College Prep, a personalized test-prep and college counseling company. Tracking student growth and developing engaging curriculum.
Responsibilities:
- Instruct small groups of students in English core skills for long-term understanding and high scores on ACT and SAT exams
- Track student progress through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum
- Engage students in individualized growth and improvement opportunities
- Maintain and update student lesson schedules
- Hold students accountable for assignments
- Model professionalism and strong organizational skills through timely student communication
- Develop and creatively execute evolving lesson plans and curriculum
- Mentor middle and high school students through the college application process
- Collaborate with instructors, counselors, and specialists to foster student success
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities field from US Schools (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.); Master’s or higher preferred
- 1+ years of teaching experience in English and/or experience working in a college-level Writing Center
- Demonstrated academic excellence (e.g., 3.5+ GPA)
- Strong verbal skills and mastery of the English language
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites
- Reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise/distraction
- Commitment to work during the stated hours of operations
- Experience teaching at the college or community college level preferred
- Robust understanding of classroom pedagogy
- Ability to create customized, engaging lesson plans using practical, real-world examples
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
