Job Description
Network and security engineer supporting One New Zealand’s enterprise and government customers. Managing firewalls, routing, switching, wireless, security monitoring, and SD-WAN services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise to enterprise and government customers
- Ensure maximum availability, performance, and stability of customer networks and services
- Configure and maintain firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless controllers
- Monitor security events, identify threats or vulnerabilities, and respond to incidents
- Monitor network health, diagnose and troubleshoot issues, and implement remedial actions
- Participate in the regular 24x7 callout roster
- Drive service improvements using technical understanding of customer networks and services
- Prepare and deploy operational changes to customer networks following industry best practices
Requirements:
- Proven experience maintaining and operating in network environments
- Ideally familiarity with Cisco, Fortinet, Checkpoint, Zscaler, Arista, Meraki, and cloud-based services AWS/Azure
- Have or pursuing networking certifications such as CCNA/CCNP/CISSP/Security
- Background in Networking (Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Wireless) or Security (Auditing, Certificates, Compliance)
- Experience participating in projects, request fulfilment, and troubleshooting
- Strong communication skills and customer-partner orientation
- Must hold New Zealand Permanent Residency or Citizenship due to security clearance requirements
- Must participate in a rotating on-call roster, averaging one week every two months
