Job Description
Environmental permitting specialist supporting Massachusetts energy, infrastructure, and federal projects at AECOM. Preparing permits and conducting wetland and wildlife field ecology work.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare environmental permit applications for Massachusetts regulatory programs
- Apply knowledge of the Massachusetts Wetland Protection Act, USACE Sections 404/10 and 401 WQC programs, MADEP Chapter 91, and MEPA
- Conduct wetland and wildlife field ecology work
- Support energy projects, including electric transmission, generation, and renewables
- Support state and private-sector infrastructure improvement programs
- Support federal projects
- Work with the Northeast Environmental Planning & Permitting Department and East Coast EPP teams
- Work in offices or at client sites as needed
Requirements:
- BA/BS in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, or related field, plus 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review
- US Citizenship required
- Environmental permitting experience
- Wetlands experience in Massachusetts
- Strong understanding of Massachusetts Environmental Regulatory Programs, including the Massachusetts Wetland Protection Act Regulations (310 CMR 10:00), USACE Sections 404/10 and 401 WQC programs, and familiarity with MADEP Chapter 91 and MEPA
- Proven ability to prepare permit applications
- Strong writing skills and ability to draft environmental permitting applications
- GIS skills
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to work in offices or at client sites as needed
