Job Description

Evening Telehealth Psychiatrist providing psychiatric assessments, crisis care, diagnosis, and medication management for North Carolina patients. Collaborating with behavioral health teams in acute-care settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and diagnostic evaluations for patients presenting in the Emergency Department
  • Perform psychiatric admission evaluations
  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of mental health disorders in an acute care hospital setting
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, adjusting treatment plans as needed
  • Create individualized treatment plans including medication management, psychotherapy, and other interventions
  • Participate in chart audits, peer review, meetings, and provider management
  • Maintain up-to-date medical records in compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and standards of care
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and audit files to ensure services are documented
  • Review patient status to verify treatment and therapeutic programs are completed
  • Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and staff to provide integrated care
  • Provide immediate psychiatric care during crises such as suicide attempts or acute psychiatric episodes
  • Work to prevent incidents through proactive mental health management
  • Comply with applicable regulations, laws, rules, procedures, policies, standards, and contract requirements

Requirements:

  • Active North Carolina medical license required
  • 2 years of inpatient experience
  • Trauma experience required
  • Board Certified or eligible within 1 year of residency completion in Psychiatry
  • Valid and unrestricted DEA
  • Proficient in using telemedicine technologies to treat patients remotely
  • Open to PMHNP collaboration preferred
  • Evening schedule: 3pm–11pm
  • Additional Florida and Texas licensure preferred, or compact license (PSYPACT)
