Job Description

Exploration Geologist supporting SSR Mining’s Canadian gold and copper exploration programs through field mapping, drilling, sampling, and geological modelling. Rotational remote-camp role flying in and out of Saskatoon.

Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Manager, Canada Exploration
  • Support SSR’s Au-Cu exploration programs and collaborate with other company departments
  • Plan and follow up on exploration activities, generate targets, log and sample, map, interpret models, ensure HSEC compliance, perform QA/QC, and prepare reports
  • Help implement drilling programs and work with technicians
  • Plan and conduct field activities safely
  • Conduct geological field mapping
  • Conduct geological and geotechnical drill-core logging
  • Interpret assay results and produce reports
  • Participate in weekly and monthly safety meetings and presentations
  • Implement exploration department procedures
  • Verify QA/QC in field sampling and drilling processes
  • Examine exploration activities for safety
  • Create and update maps using ESRI ArcPRO and maintain a GIS database
  • Complete and file assessment reports
  • Participate in targeting exercises for prospective exploration areas
  • Use GPS navigation to locate and mark sampling and data points while conducting fieldwork
  • Enter logging and assay information in Leapfrog to support geological model generation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in exploration
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Physical capability and skills for fieldwork, including camping
  • Ability to travel extensively during field season
  • Ability to travel internationally when required
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Software expertise in Leapfrog, ArcPRO, and ioGAS is an asset
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including a 14x14 rotation based out of remote exploration camps during active drilling and field programs
  • Ability to fly in and fly out of Saskatoon
