Job Description

Farm Business Consultant role working with farmers to improve their business performance. Providing data-led advice on farm management and sustainability with a focus on relationship building.

Responsibilities:

  • Building trusted, long-term relationships with farming clients.
  • Visiting farms to understand business performance, technical challenges and improvement opportunities.
  • Carrying out technical and financial analysis to identify strengths, risks and areas for improvement.
  • Using Promar and wider industry benchmarking data to provide clear, objective insight.
  • Delivering practical recommendations that support profitability, efficiency, sustainability and resilience.
  • Supporting clients with areas such as nutrition, fertility, forage and soil management, livestock housing, farm infrastructure, environmental compliance, organic production and diversification.
  • Helping farmers review business performance, plan for the future and make informed decisions.
  • Growing and developing your own client base over time.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across Promar and the wider business.
  • Taking part in team meetings, company events, agricultural shows, conferences and industry networking opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to understand client needs and influence key decision makers.
  • A genuine interest in farm business performance, technical improvement and long-term sustainability.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload in a field-based role.
  • Confidence using data, insight and practical knowledge to support decision making.
  • A proactive approach to developing client relationships and identifying new opportunities.
  • Good digital skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office and other business systems.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to farms, client meetings and industry events.
  • Experience in agriculture, farm consultancy (big plus), technical sales, nutrition, farm business management or another client-facing agricultural role would be valuable.
  • An agricultural, agriscience or business-related qualification would also be beneficial, but we are open to different backgrounds where you can demonstrate relevant knowledge, credibility and a strong interest in supporting farming clients.
