Job Description
Forensic Electrical Engineer, P.E. performing power system analysis and failure investigations. Working remotely while providing expert opinions on engineering assignments across various environments and industries.
Responsibilities:
- Provide power system analysis
- Determine the origin and cause of fire and explosion losses
- Perform evaluations on failures of electronic equipment, appliance, and consumer products
- Conduct lightning strike damage analyses and electric shock/electrocution causes
- Analyze power surge damage and conduct post-storm damage assessments
- Inspect losses and loss scenes at residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
- Investigate and assess damages and evidence due to failures to determine the origin of failure
- Analyze and document failure analyses and causation of failures
- Examine and test evidence in a laboratory setting and research failure modes, products, installations, and maintenance related to findings
- Collaborate with other experts to produce detailed reports outlining the origin and cause of losses and damages
- Serve as an expert witness in court and/or in depositions
- Document and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis for failure analysis and forensic engineering projects
Requirements:
- Requires Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Requires a Professional Engineer (PE) license, minimum required for resident state
- Prefer multi-state licensing and/or active NCEES Record
- Expert witness testimony experience is a plus
- Strong background in power system analysis, codes and standards, equipment and system failures, fire origin and cause, lightening and surge damage analysis, product liability, and construction defects
