Job Description
Forward Deployed Software Engineer building scalable AI underwriting SaaS features for Convr, an insurance technology company. Embedding with strategic customers while turning recurring needs into core platform capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of new features in the core SaaS product
- Build scalable platform features rather than one-off customer integrations
- Work across the full stack, including database queries, API endpoints, and UI/UX
- Architect production-ready integrations and workflows
- Lead technical workshops with stakeholders to define future-state solutions
- Write high-quality, type-safe, maintainable TypeScript code using React and Next.js
- Identify universal customer needs and translate them into core product features
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams on technical direction
- Contribute to CI/CD, testing, and performance monitoring
- Mentor teammates and establish engineering best practices
- Embed with strategic customers, acting as a technical consultant and product scout
- Travel to customer sites as needed, up to 20%
Requirements:
- 10+ years of professional experience in full-stack or frontend development, specifically within SaaS products or startup environments
- Strong coding proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Java, C++, or similar
- Strong experience in Commercial P&C Insurance
- Understanding of the underwriting lifecycle from submission through quote
- Hands-on experience with Next.js App Router, including server components, layouts, streaming, and caching
- Experience with tRPC or equivalent type-safe API frameworks
- Experience implementing complex, data-heavy views with Tailwind and component libraries such as shadcn/ui or Mantine
- Background in UI/UX design or close collaboration with designers highly preferred
- Ability to design scalable systems
- Understanding of frontend performance, state management, and accessibility
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work autonomously as a consultant/partner to customers
- Ability and interest to travel up to 20% to customer sites as needed
