Job Description
Freelance romance ghostwriter reshaping stories, developing series, and collaborating with authors and AI tools. Supporting Inkitt’s AI-powered publishing and entertainment platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Own the process of running multiple books in a series
- Read books, ideate story concepts, pitch those concepts, iterate on them, and write new books based on those
- Collaborate with authors and in-house agentic LLM tools in story development
- Maintain continuity and consistency across series
- Hit delivery milestones at a regular cadence
- Reimagine characters, stakes, pacing, plot, and emotional payoff in books readers almost love
- Study reader responses, identify what is holding a story back, and rebuild it
- Put revised versions in front of real readers to validate the approach
Requirements:
- Love romance and read it a lot; knowledge of romance tropes and why they work
- Have written long-form fiction; published, self-published/KU, web serials, fanfic with a following, or ghostwriting credits all count
- Understand pacing, chapter hooks and cliffhangers, and write for readers rather than for prizes
- Excited to collaborate with AI as part of your creative process, or already do
- Can match a tone or house style and take editorial feedback without ego
- Write clean, native-level English and meet deadlines without being chased
- Experience with serialized or episodic fiction (Wattpad, Radish, Kindle Vella, webnovels and similar) preferred
- Experience publishing your own book-length work preferred
- Range across sub-genres and heat levels preferred
- Curiosity about what readers actually do preferred
