Job Description
Head of Design leading Hospitable’s short-term rental software product experience. Building the design vision, system, and lean product design team while remaining hands-on.
Responsibilities:
- Own and set the overall design vision for Hospitable’s short-term rental software product.
- Lead design of the entire platform and own the end-to-end quality bar.
- Personally lead high-stakes design work from discovery and research through prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and shipped features.
- Own the design language, style guide, and component library.
- Reduce product complexity and prevent inconsistency as the platform and team grow.
- Develop and lead a lean, AI-leveraged product design team.
- Direct work, run quality control, and raise the standard of shipped design.
- Provide direct feedback and set high expectations for designers.
- Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to decide what the company builds.
- Use research, analytics, experimentation, and direct customer feedback to make design decisions and demonstrate impact.
- Report to the CEO, Pierre.
Requirements:
- Design leadership experience at a product-led SaaS company within the last 5 years.
- Experience raising designers’ standards through direct feedback, hiring, and high expectations.
- Proven ownership of design direction end-to-end, from discovery through shipped features.
- Track record of demonstrating the impact of design work, not just deliverables.
- Hands-on design experience within the last 3 years; not solely focused on management.
- Strong research and briefing skills.
- Strong product thinking and ability to shape what gets built.
- Ability to partner as an equal with Product and Engineering leadership.
- High agency and ownership.
- Ability to maximize leverage in a lean, low-bureaucracy, AI-enabled remote environment.
- Proficiency with Whimsical and Figma.
- European or North American timezone preferred for the ideal fit.
- Short-term rental, travel, hospitality, or proptech domain experience is advantageous.
Benefits:
- A supportive, radically transparent, and caring team environment, where you are trusted, not managed—and a culture that is focused on results and output.
- Total cash budget between USD$171,000.00 and $218,900.00 depending on seniority and cost of living.
- Company equity compensation through RSUs, with a current grant value of up to $119,400.00.
- Eligibility for up to an additional $671,637 per year in Performance Share Units (PSUs), tied to defined business performance targets.
- For US employees: healthcare (including EPO, PPO and HSA) and 401(k).
- 35 days off per year, including self-serve public holidays, and parental leave.
- Complimentary mental health and emotional support with therapists on call through Slack.
- Virtual coins through a peer recognition platform, redeemable for gift cards, donations, or monetary rewards.
- Remote-only, global, trust-based work environment.
- International contractor or employee arrangements for eligible locations.
