Job Description
Head of Sales building Slate’s end-to-end sales function for its nationwide commercial cleaning business. Owning lead generation, outbound prospecting, discovery, negotiations, and client handoffs.
Responsibilities:
- Own and optimize lead generation channels, including digital, referral, and partnership channels
- Build prospect lists in key verticals and run targeted account-based outbound outreach to decision-makers
- Respond to inbound inquiries, qualify prospects, and advance suitable opportunities
- Conduct discovery calls and video walkthroughs to understand prospects' operational needs
- Scope deliverable engagements in partnership with the NYC operations team for on-site walks
- Structure proposals, negotiate contracts, and close deals
- Transition new clients to account management for a strong first ninety days
- Build the sales function, define processes, track performance metrics, and shape sales strategy
- Use AI to build internal sales systems
- Own the sales pipeline end to end, from first touch through signed contract
Requirements:
- 4+ years of B2B sales experience with full-cycle ownership
- Experience ideally selling recurring-revenue services such as facilities, cleaning, security, or staffing
- Ability to prospect, conduct discovery, and manage the pipeline as a team of one
- Comfort spending significant time speaking with prospects by phone
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to protect margin while building trust
- Organized and systems-minded approach to building repeatable sales processes
- Familiarity with CRM tools and modern outbound tooling
- Based anywhere in the US
- Nice to have: experience selling to multi-location businesses in fitness, healthcare, retail, hospitality, or commercial real estate-adjacent services
Benefits:
- Base salary starts at $1,000/week, with an automatic, formula-based path to $2,000/week
- Uncapped commission on every account closed, paid monthly for the first 12 months of each contract as the client pays
- 7% commission on the first $10K of an account's monthly billing
- 3% commission from $10K–50K/month
- 1.5% commission above $50K/month
- Base salary steps up the pay period after hitting milestones, with no annual review or discretion
- Once earned, base salary never goes back down
- Six-figure total compensation well within year one for a seller sustaining a healthy close rate
- No cap above six-figure total compensation
