Job Description
Industrial Sales Representative selling machinery components and technical services for a paper-industry engineering and manufacturing company. Managing customer relationships, field inspections, quotes, and regional sales.
Responsibilities:
- Provide, support, and perform work relating to customer needs through best practices in the field
- Represent the company with integrity and professionalism while working with little to no supervision
- Participate in on-site sales and gear inspections
- Develop technical knowledge to communicate products and gear inspection services
- Build and maintain customer relationships and understand customer needs
- Maintain contact with existing customers and make cold calls to prospective customers
- Visit prospects and existing customers in person, generate leads and quotes, and take opportunities through to sale
- Create, submit, and follow up on quotes and RFQs
- Document and track new and existing business opportunities
- Maintain accurate customer interaction records in the database
- Provide regular updates on progress, challenges, and opportunities to the PTS
- Maintain monthly itineraries and submit daily briefs and weekly reports
- Provide services and customer support during field visits
- Tie workflow to schedule and manage on-site projects within expected timelines
- Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper, cost-effective solutions
- Follow timekeeping and billing requirements
- Cooperate with the technical team and share information with the company
- Make appropriate recommendations based on customer requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Outstanding organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Experience participating in on-site sales and gear inspections
- Technical knowledge to communicate products and gear inspection services
- Ability to build and maintain customer relationships
- Experience maintaining customer contact and making cold calls
- Experience generating leads, quotes, and sales
- Ability to create, submit, and follow up on Quotes and RFQs
- Ability to document and track business opportunities
- Technological capabilities for today’s business environment
- 50% travel
- Ability to maintain monthly itineraries using wall calendar and Outlook calendar
- Ability to submit daily briefs and weekly reports
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings
- Ability to safely ascend and descend ladders
- Ability to provide field services and customer support
- Ability to manage on-site projects with little supervision
- Ability to diagnose technical problems and determine cost-effective solutions
- Valid driver license in good standing
- Ability to operate a vehicle safely
- Ability to cooperate with the technical team and share information
- Ability to comprehend customer requirements and make recommendations
- Professional appearance
- High School diploma/trade school or College degree; experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
- 2 years of servicing or calling on paper industry clients
- Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Good sense of smell, hearing, and vision for safety in the shop
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
- Stellar driving record
- Ability to cover the southeastern US territory
- Ability to work required hours and follow company policies and procedures
