Job Description

Francophone business development intern supporting Mercana, a North American residential furnishings wholesaler. Researching Quebec markets, prospecting accounts, and engaging French-speaking design and retail clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect, qualify, and support outreach to new business opportunities in retail, design, and e-commerce
  • Help build and maintain a portfolio of target accounts
  • Support outreach activities by email, on LinkedIn, and by phone
  • Conduct research on target markets, competitors, and prospective customers
  • Create and maintain account lists and market maps
  • Identify trends and opportunities in the furniture and home décor industry
  • Support interactions with current and prospective customers
  • Assist in preparing presentations and product sell sheets
  • Contribute to coordinating account follow-ups and onboarding activities
  • Collaborate with the Business Development, Sales, and Marketing teams
  • Support internal communication regarding new opportunities and account activity
  • Travel to High Point Market, meet with customers, and represent Mercana

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field
  • Strong interest in business development, sales, or entrepreneurship
  • Sociable, confident, and comfortable approaching new people
  • Highly motivated, organized, and proactive
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual proficiency required: fluent in French and English, both spoken and written
  • French is required to serve Quebec-based customers
  • English is required to collaborate with teams in British Columbia and Virginia and represent Mercana to English-speaking customers
  • Able to communicate professionally in French
