Job Description
Remote Project Engineer delivering server, network, cloud, and security implementations for FusionTek, a managed service provider. Supporting project managers and mentoring technical teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead deployments and configurations for Windows Server 2025, 2022, 2019, and 2016 environments
- Design, set up, and manage Hyper-V hosts and virtualization infrastructure, including VMware ESXi/vSphere environments
- Architect and deploy switches, access points, VLANs, VPNs, and routing/switching environments
- Deploy and troubleshoot SonicWall, Fortinet, Cisco, or Meraki firewalls
- Manage core network infrastructure and advanced routing/switching configurations
- Lead Microsoft 365, Intune, and Azure deployments and migrations, including Entra ID, Azure AD, Azure VMs, and Azure networking
- Plan and execute cloud migrations primarily to Azure, with AWS environments
- Configure SharePoint on-premise and online and modern collaboration platforms
- Implement and troubleshoot BCDR, Veeam, and Barracuda backup solutions
- Support SaaS backup configurations and disaster recovery tasks
- Join project calls as the senior technical resource, scope technical approaches, answer complex questions, and guide implementation while the Project Manager leads client communication
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Sales, and technical teams to deliver projects on time and within scope
- Mentor junior technicians and provide technical quality assurance
- Document configurations, procedures, and client environments in the documentation platform
Requirements:
- 5–8+ years of IT infrastructure, systems engineering, or senior systems administration experience
- Proven track record leading or executing server, network, and cloud migration projects end-to-end
- Experience working in a multi-client environment; MSP experience strongly preferred
- Relevant certifications preferred: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator/Solutions Architect, VMware VCP, CompTIA Network+/Security+, or equivalent
- Expert-level knowledge of Windows 10/11 and macOS
- Expert-level knowledge of Windows Server 2025, 2022, 2019, and 2016 administration
- Advanced, hands-on experience with Hyper-V virtualization and server administration
- Strong working experience with VMware ESXi/vSphere and other virtualization environments
- Strong knowledge of routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, LAN/WAN, and SD-WAN concepts
- Experience configuring and deploying SonicWall, Fortinet, Cisco, or Meraki firewalls
- Strong, hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Intune, and Azure cloud services
- Demonstrated experience planning and executing on-premise to cloud migrations; Azure required and AWS familiarity important
- Experience with Veeam, Barracuda, or similar backup and disaster recovery platforms
- Working knowledge of AWS core services including EC2, S3, networking, and IAM
- PowerShell required; Azure CLI or similar is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage concurrent project tasks and priorities
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment with minimal supervision
- Clear written and verbal communication for documentation, client-facing technical discussions, and internal collaboration
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex, multi-vendor environments
- Bonus points for VOIP, Microsoft Teams, Autotask PSA, SharePoint administration, containerization, or infrastructure-as-code experience
